What should I notice if motorcycle tires have dry rot? What are the main indicators that tell you if a motorcycle tire is unsafe, and still has good tread? There are no cracks in the tires, however they have sat in inside storage for 15 years. What should I look for that would tell me that they are unsafe?

How do you read size designation of Motorcycle Tires? When you buy a tire, does every single number of the size have to be matched? For example, when the owner's manual states the size of "120/90-17", can you use 120/90-18"? My parts catalogue doesn't have the size I need. (Which motorcycle parts shop sell tires for low price?) Thank you.
Dangerous to put tire dressing on motorcycle tires? I'm talking about tire shine stuff, like black magic. Being on two narrow tires seems like it might be dangerous to have any oily stuff on the tires. Do they make some kind of tire dressing that is safe on motorcycle tires? I don't even have a motorcycle right now. I'm not asking if I can do it, I'm asking hypothetically. I thought it seemed like a bad idea. What is the best way to break in brand new motorcycle tires? On my 89' Ninja 750, the new rear tire has scared me more than a few times. VERY slippery at first (which I hear is normal) but now I have about 80 miles on it and I still will slip on a decent right turn, for example. On Friday, I was out in 60 degree weather and I turned right, the wheel slipped and my right foot kicked the ground HARD in response and somehow I did not go down. There must be a better, safer way than this to break in the edges of tires? I am not even taking a knee or anything crazy! The tire is OEM fit, Maxxis rear tire. The fit is exactly OEM, if that helps. 150/70 18 inch rear.

Although they look as new, they are getting old. For example, the rear tire manufacturing date shows 1704, that is approx April 2004. After how many years (after manufacturing date) should I replace the tire irrespective of milage?
